Aurangabad: Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), has constituted a six-member panel to inquire into the Ph.D. registrations carried out in violation of the norms laid down by the University Grants Commission, the ToI reported.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor Pravin Wakte, and Deans from different faculties are part of the committee formed to look into the violation of rules while alloting guides for Ph.D. Scholars and probe the registrations of some ‘selected’ candidates.
As per UGC rules, to register for PhD a candidate is required to clear the Ph.D. Entrance Test of the respective university/ State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) / National eligibility test/ or have an MPhil, or should have minimum 5-year experience as full time approved teacher.
The committee has been mandated to vet all Ph.D. registrations that have taken place following the last PET held in 2017.
It is alleged that procedures were violated, checks compromised and bogus registrations have taken place in the University, and the matter demands attention ToI reported quoting sources.
