Dr.Young’s ideal Rectal Dilators

Dr.Young’s ideal Rectal Dilators which were made from rubber and some jelly-like material were sold in America as a cure for constipation, piles, headaches, foul breath, lethargy, nervousness, irritability, colds, etc. They were sold as medical devices in America during the late nineteenth century An advertisement published by F. E. Young and Co. of Chicago in 1905,  promised that “The best results may be obtained by the use of Young’s self-retaining rectal dilators”. Doctors were advised to prescribe these dilators to those suffering from chronic constipation.
