paclitaxel

A drug used to treat AIDS-related Kaposi sarcoma, advanced ovarian cancer, and certain types of breast cancer. It is also used with cisplatin to treat non-small cell lung cancer in patients who cannot be treated with surgery or radiation therapy. It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Paclitaxel blocks cell growth by stopping cell division and may kill cancer cells. It is a type of antimitotic agent.
