Cancer

organoid

A tiny, 3-dimensional mass of tissue that is made by growing stem cells (cells from which other types of cells develop) in the laboratory. Organoids that are similar to human tissues and organs, or to a specific type of tumor, can be grown. Organoids are used in the laboratory to study how normal tissues or cancers form and to test new drugs and other types of treatment before they are given to people.
