Cancer

microscopic description

A description of what cells or a tissue sample taken during a biopsy look like when viewed under a microscope. The microscopic description may include the type and number of cells seen in the tissue sample and how they compare with normal cells. It may also include any special cell features and results from other laboratory tests done on the cell or tissue sample. Microscopic descriptions are usually included in a pathology report, which may be used to help diagnose diseases, such as cancer, and plan treatment.
