Jelmyto is a prescription drug used to treat adults with low-grade urothelial cancer in the upper urinary tract (the ureter and the renal pelvis of the kidney). It is given as a solution through a catheter that is placed into the ureter or kidney. Jelmyto damages the cell’s DNA and may kill cancer cells. It contains the active ingredient mitomycin, which comes from the bacterium Streptomyces. Jelmyto is a type of anticancer antibiotic and a type of alkylating agent.
