Quack Track
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on Thursday directed the University Grants Commission (UGC) to immediately constitute a high powered committee to enquire into the allegations regarding the sale of fake degrees by certain universities.
The ministry ordered the probe in response to the investigation carried out by News 18 which exposed the alleged sale of fake degrees by individuals who claimed to be agents of recognised universities in various parts of the country.
The investigation carried out by News18 also showed how one can get verifiable, backdated degrees and mark sheets and without even attending the university for some degrees. It also showed the charges for obtaining engineering, law or PhD fake degrees.
The UGC Chairman, thanking News18 for the investigation assured that a five-member high-level committee has been set up to probe the matter. Reacting to the investigation the Education Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia also promised a thorough probe.
