Mumbai: Cops arrest 8 Fake doctors in Kalwa

The crackdown on fake doctors seems to be in full swing in Mumbai.

Eight fake doctors were arrested in Kalwa area by the Central crime detection unit of Thane police on Thursday, the HT reported.

Acting on information, the Central unit team of crime branch formed a team along with Maharashtra Council of Indian Medicines president Dr Ashutosh Gupta and conducted raids in eight places in the Kalwa area of Thane.

Investigations revealed that the bogus doctors started homoeopathic and ayurvedic clinics with fake certificates and none of them had any qualifications in medicine. They were operating the clinics for several years.

The accused have been identified as Alok Singh (39),  Gopal Bishwas (47), Ramjit Gautam (47), Ramtej Prasad (50), Subhashchand Yadav (47), Jayprakash Vishvakarma (40), Deepak Bishwash (48) and Satyanarayan Binda (42).

Cases have been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Indian Medical Council Act.
